The Request for Solutions (RFS) was just released for the Drake Docking Station Development opportunity by Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane.
The currently deployed Drake Dismounted (DM) system is in a backpack form factor which is either worn or placed on the ship’s deck during operation. Sailors have to be near the system in order to monitor it for threats. When more than one unit are in concurrent operation, this continually ties up multiple sailors. As stated previously, sailors are currently using a DM backpack system, which is worn and operated locally by the operator while standing on watch duty. The system is not connected to the network on ships for remote or local operating. The desire is to create a fixed mounting configuration to emplace the unit(s) on the ship platform, tied into ship C2 networks, which will allow for permanent UAS detection and jamming on all surface ship platforms.
