WHAT TO KNOW FROM THE CEO

Year-End Reflections and Looking Ahead

As we close out another year at the MMEC, I want to take a moment to reflect on what we’ve accomplished together, and more importantly, where we’re headed next.

This year reaffirmed something we’ve known since MMEC’s founding: meaningful progress in microelectronics doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens when industry, academia, government, and innovators work together with urgency, discipline, and shared purpose. Across the MMEC ecosystem, we’ve seen that collaboration translates into real outcomes. From accelerated project execution and stronger teaming to expanded infrastructure access and workforce development momentum.

Over the past year, MMEC continued to mature from a start-up organization into an execution engine. Our physical and technical infrastructure network grew, giving members more pathways to prototype, test, and scale. We strengthened our platforms and services to help members move faster from concept to fabrication to mission impact. Our DESIGN Platform digital tools expanded affordable access to design, tools, IP, and emulation. We launched our CONNECT Platform to enhance collaboration, innovation, and resource integration across diverse ecosystems. SECURE Services is our latest effort to build a culture of security and compliance that our members can access for FSO, CMMC, and training programs. And lastly, through the launch of ScaleBridge Labs and our capital ecosystem, we advanced new approaches to bridging the Valley of Death for early-stage microelectronics companies. It’s been quite a year of excitement and growth.

Equally important, we invested in people. Workforce development remained a core priority as we supported education, training, and experiential learning opportunities that prepare the next generation of microelectronics talent, while also upskilling today’s workforce to meet national security and commercial demands.

None of this progress would be possible without our members. Your willingness to engage, share expertise, lead working groups, pursue projects, and challenge the status quo is what makes MMEC work. I’m also deeply grateful to our partners and stakeholders who continue to place their trust in this consortium to deliver results at speed and scale.

As we look at the year ahead, our focus is clear: execution, impact, and scale. We will continue to align opportunities with capabilities, reduce friction in collaboration, and help our members compete and win in an increasingly complex microelectronics landscape. Scaling our membership, projects, infrastructure and services results in significant capability transition, rapid response to the warfigher and assuring our nation remains the leader in state of the art microelectronics. The work ahead is ambitious but we truly believe we have built a community with a culture that will allow great things to happen.

Thank you for your commitment to MMEC and to strengthening America’s microelectronics ecosystem. I look forward to what we will build together in the year to come.

Happy New Year from the MMEC 🎉

As we enter the new year, we’re grateful for the collaboration, dedication, and shared purpose across the MMEC community. Progress in microelectronics happens when industry, academia, government, and innovators work together—and this past year reinforced the power of that collaboration.

Looking ahead, our focus remains clear: execution, impact, and scale. We’re excited to continue building momentum, strengthening our ecosystem, and advancing innovation together in the year ahead. Wishing our members, partners, and stakeholders a successful and inspiring New Year.

Thank You for Making the 2025

MMEC Annual Member Meeting a Success!

Dear MMEC Members,

On behalf of the entire MMEC team, thank you for being part of our 2025 Annual Member Meeting. Your engagement, questions, and collaborative spirit made this year’s gathering our most impactful yet. The energy across all sessions truly reflected our shared commitment to strengthening the U.S. microelectronics ecosystem.

A Special Thank You to Our Speakers & Panelists

We couldn’t have done it without the exceptional keynote speakers and panelists who shared their expertise, insight, and real-world experience. Their contributions elevated the conversation, sparked new ideas, and provided valuable direction for where the microelectronics community is headed. We extend our sincere appreciation for the time and knowledge they brought to the MMEC stage.

Meeting Highlights

Here are just a few of the standout moments from this year’s event:

Inspiring Keynotes: Thoughtful perspectives from government, industry, and academic leaders on the future of microelectronics, national security, and domestic manufacturing.

Panel Discussions: Engaging with the leading minds in industry, government and academia to provide insight into the microelectronics ecosystem.

Working Group Discussions: Robust dialogue in our technology-area working groups, with the development of next steps for collaboration and project capture.

ScaleBridge Labs Team Pitches: A dynamic set of early-stage companies took the stage to share breakthrough concepts, dual-use technologies, and commercialization pathways. We are excited about the growing role ScaleBridge Labs will have in accelerating innovation and investment.

Networking & Collaboration: New connections, new teaming opportunities, and follow-on conversations that will continue well beyond the meeting. Thank you to our two networking reception sponsors: JobsOhio https://www.jobsohio.com and The Uhl Agency https://www.uhlagency.com

MMEC BLOG

Quantum computing is changing security fast. Replacing every device isn’t realistic—but PROTECT makes post-quantum security possible on the hardware you already have. MMEC Trust and Assurance Manager, Matt Areno,  has written a compelling abstract discussing this topic.

Abstract: The advent of post-quantum computing is impacting organizations across the globe in significant ways. Whether it is a manufacturer trying to integrate and deploy new algorithms or a customer attempting to meet critical milestones in adopting post-quantum security devices, the struggle is rea. There is a path to post-quantum security that does not require replacing all your existing products. In this post, we cover the PROTECT solution, a technology that enables a post-quantum secure boot. Through a novel approach to secure boot, this technology can provide post-quantum security to both existing and future device, thereby preventing unnecessary hardware replacement and significantly reducing costs.
